Thank you for helping. I've got the file and put only the file "HLRCC310.UVP" on the USB drive with nothing else on it. Then plugged the USB to the TV and plugged in the tv to the wall. Turned the TV on and went to the software update page. It says checking USB for a few seconds but then it gives this message.

I bought it in 2002 The DVD player is a SONY DVD/VHS SLVD300P I am fairly sure it's plugged in the proper ports. We tried a couple of different DVD players that work on other tvs but none would work on this tv. The movie actually comes on like it should but that black box is definitely there with every DVD
